I was guessing that his massively incomplete autoregulatory bastardization of 5/3/1 put him in hospital.
Either that or he got so huge, so fast, that he could no longer use a keyboard designed for mere mortals.
Nah, lifting’s been going well. It’s just that I’ve been increasingly disillusioned with New Breakthrough Stuff and regressing back towards the training-geekery mean. Been doing kettlebell swings as a finisher, that’s been good. Also front-loaded Bulgarian squats, but I think I like those because they’re novel and hard rather than because they’re amazing.
I have been trying ordinary front squats for the first time in my life. I finally worked out how to do them without killing my front delts or choking myself, so I’ve been doing 5-8 sets of 5-6 a couple of times a week for the last month.
Conclusion: in normal squats my glutes and hams do 90% of the work.
