Car porn, white snake growl edition

Some of you may be aware that Dodge SRT is bringing back the Viper for 2013.  Turns out they’re also bringing back the Viper racing programme, which (with the Viper GTS-R) once dominated FIA GT and won its class at Le Mans three years running.  So here’s some footage of a white new-model Viper testing at Virginia International Raceway:

Some have complained that the new V10, with its ALMS-mandated restrictor, lacks a certain gravitas to its exhaust note.  Well, for gravitas, let me introduce you to Formula One’s V10s:

Uhhhh…..I think those F1 V-10’s are turning a *few* more RPM than the Vipers are.

      Yeah. Probably. :-P

Somewhere I came across an engineer admonishing the FIA that “boost is a lot cheaper than revs” when the latter decided to shitcan turbos for the 1989 season. I’m more or less on board with the idea that forced induction and low cylinder counts are the Way Of The Future, and if I was designing a race car for, I dunno, SCCA CSR or something like that, I’d probably try to go with a smallish I4 with a hybrid turbo. But god damn do high-revving V10s and V12s sound great.
