Comment of the day, truth-in-advertising edition

In the comment thread on Megan McArdle’s afore-linked post on historic preservation make-work, we are treated to a discussion of brutalist architecture before someone gets around to calling her a Koch brothers shill or some shit like that.  I rather like brutalist architecture — I like Quake level architecture, too; don’t judge me — but I couldn’t resist commenter msully72’s judgement on the Boston City Hall:

[W]hat truly ruins city hall is that it’s an inverted pyramid, casting shadows over the lower floors.  To enter the front doors is to enter the maw of darkness.

At least the architecture’s honest.
