Beers of Milwaukee, vol. 26

This time around I’ve managed to find another IPA from Colorado — New Belgium Brewing’s Ranger India Pale Ale.  It’s… well, it’s pretty good.  It’s noticeably hoppy without being overwhelmingly so, and while I count that as a demerit I recognize that opinions will vary.  Typically for most moderately-hopped IPAs, it has a crisp finish and a decidedly fleeting aftertaste; unlike most moderately-hopped IPAs, it hits a 6.5% ABV.  I don’t regret picking up the six-pack, but Ranger scores well down my favourite-IPAs list.

(I enjoyed a fair bit of New Belgium’s Fat Tire pale ale at the June Sprints this year.  Turns out to be a good beer to drink in the sun — crisp and refreshing, with a broad malty streak that doesn’t get obnoxious.)

Drop me an email, if you want some New Belgium posters, I work at the place that prints them.
