Beers of Vancouver, vol. 8

Nous sommes, encore, de retour.

Kelowna’s Tree Brewing Company makes some fantastic beers. One of my favourites is their Hophead IPA. As you might guess from the name, it’s hoppy — delightfully, aggressively, almost overwhelmingly hoppy. There’s more to it than that: it’s very slightly fruity, with more of a sour than a sweet taste (which underscores the hops’ bitterness nicely). I find it a very satisfying beer: its flavour is strong enough that one tends to enjoy a bottle rather than simply chug it, while the hops nonetheless makes it refreshing regardless of the weather and the fruity undertones prevent one from losing interest. Very good stuff.
