So my brand new netbook just bricked itself… Asus’s auto-update software went into a “gotta reboot to install updates” loop until it wrecked something in the MBR. Right in the middle of skyping with my uncle through the Rose Bowl, fuckdammit.
On the bright side, I’ve discovered a few streams that work from VIPBox.
The amusing thing is, this is the same sort of failure mode I got from Apple on an old macbook, which prompted me to expand my vocabulary into innovative and esoteric territory. This time around it’s more like “Yeah, fuck laptops”, and because Windows 8 has gone commercial for maybe a few weeks I figure they deserve a pass on the inventive anatomical speculation. Or maybe I really do have some brand loyalty after all, and am behaving irrationally.
Either way, I knew I was going to put linux (perhaps some BSD instead) on this thing eventually; I just didn’t think it’d be this soon.
