So, I have a blog.
Let’s get a few things straight. First, I’m pleased that you’re reading my blog. Second, I don’t give a shit. I write because I want to, not because I crave your approval. As this blog’s name should tell you, I don’t particularly feel the need to be subtle about… well, anything. I’ll be subtle if I damn well please, but I make no guarantees.
My undergraduate programme had a tradition of introducing students to (obsolete) computers via 12lb sledgehammers at the end of April. Beating the shit out of an obsolete Sun workstation was not subtle. Destroying the very same Sun workstation by submerging it in saltwater for five years might have been just as effective, but it would have been less entertaining. Draw your own conclusions about subtlety, my opinion of Sun’s wares, and the title of this blog. Demolishing a SPARC was a lot of fun, and I don’t see any reason to stop there.
I consider myself mildly intelligent and strongly opinionated. I intend to write about anything that catches my fancy, which will probably include little besides my interests — computer graphics, computational geometry, combatives, weight training, and metal and industrial music. I doubt that I’ll be able to restrain myself from writing about politics, and I’m not especially inclined to try. (I think of myself as a left-leaning small-ell libertarian, so no matter who you vote for I’m likely to offend you. This doesn’t bother me.)
Read if you please. If you don’t, please refrain from whining at me — you’ll only embarrass yourself.
